AT-N04A: 3 Days & 2 Nights: Meliau Basin

Duration: 3 Days & 2 Nights
Day 01
Pickup at 0700 from the hotel and travel for about 2 hours to Keningau Town through Crocker Range; enjoy a scenic mountainous countryside journey. Arrive at Keningau Town at 0900; make a short stop for coffee and collect your packed lunch. Then continue the journey to Maliau Basin, parts of the road are gravel and bumpy. Arrive at Maliau Basin Information Gallery at 1300; take a rest and learn about Maliau Basin – Sabah’s Lost World. By 1400 proceed to Maliau Basin Studies Center (MBSC) for Registration and Check-in. 1530 visit Maliau “SkyBriedge” and explore the Nature Trail. Dinner is served at 1930 at MBSC. Attend a video presentation at 2000 on Maliau Basin Conservation Area. A one hour Night Drive starts at 2030 in search of nocturnal wildlife. Return to the lodge and rest.

Day 02
After breakfast at 0700 proceed for a 30 minutes drive to Agathis Camp; 0830 briefing by a ranger about the 7km trekking to Nephenthes Camp (also known as Camel Trophy Camp) – the first 2 hours is an uphill trek (have packed lunch en-route). Arrive at Nephenthes Camp by 1330. Guests are free at leisure OR may trek for 2.5km to Takop Akop Waterfall OR Giluk Waterfall. Dinner is at 1900.

Day 3
After breakfast at 0700 visit the 33m high Observation Tower for bird watching and enjoying the majestic view of the surrounding virgin forest. By 0800 pack up and collect a packed lunch for the return journey to Agathis camp. Arrive at Agathis Camp at 1300. Clean up and relax. Depart from Agathis Camp at 1430 and arrive at Keningau Town at 1800 – stop for dinner at a local restaurant. By 1930 continue the journey to Kota Kinabalu (ETA 2130) and check into a hotel. END OF SERVICE.

 

Important Notice:

  • Trekkers MUST submit their latest Fitness Certificate confirmed by a physician or doctor.
  • Trekkers MUST submit a copy of their latest Personal Insurance Policy that covers emergency Helicopter evacuation.
  • Special permission is needed and separate charges are levied for professional photography or filming.
  • Porter Services – can be engaged at the Agathis Camp. Trekkers are encouraged to carry their own backpack.
    • Personal Porter will assist trekkers and provide general help around the camp.
    • Maximum of 12 KG per porter – Charges: RM100.00 per day.

 

AT-N04B: 5 Days & 4 Nights: Meliau Basin

Duration: 5 Days & 4 Nights
Day 1

By 0830 pack up and collect a packed lunch for a 6km journey to a junction (ETA 1200) between Maliau Waterfall and Ginseng Camp. Stop for lunch and rest. At 1300 proceed for a 4.5km downhill trek to Maliau Waterfall (ETA 1500); you will pass Lobah Camp which gives you an awesome view of Maliau Basin Rim. Maliau Waterfall is a spectacular seven-tiered waterfall cascading over and over into Maliau River - the highest fall is 28m. By 1600 trek back on the same trail for 5km to reach Ginseng Camp (ETA 1830). Dinner is at 1930.

Day 4
Breakfast is at 0700. By 0800 pack up and collect a lunch box for a 9km trekking to Agathis Camp (ETA 1400). Then a transfer to Maliau Basin Studies Center (MBSC). Upon arrival; check into the rest house and dinner is at 1900. Guests are free at leisure OR may engage in optional night trekking.

Day 5
Breakfast is at 0700. Depart at 0800 for Keningau Town (ETA 1200) - stopover at the 4-storey Observation Tower for a final picture of the Maliau Basin Rim. Stop at Keningau Town for a local lunch before continuing the journey to Kota Kinabalu (ETA 1600) and check into a hotel.                     END OF SERVICE.
